When you open the bolt the safety has to be off but make sure you put the safety back on to close the bolt to get the next one loaded and out. Don’t be fooled, this gun kills more than deer. I did not have it fixed but went to Gander Mountain 20 years ago and was told they would fix it and Remington would take care of the charge. Many people have been shot or killed because of this. ![]() 10 years ago you could do research and find that the man that invented the mechanism told Remington it was a bad design and told them not to use it. Mine misfired twice and I was lucky I did not kill my brother standing beside me. Anyone who thinks these model 700 misfires because someone adjusted their trigger wrong, is wrong themselves.
